Virginia Lee Sellers Bodenhamer was born in Keo, Arkansas on April 17, 1928. Virginia, 89, passed away on April 23, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, O.L. "Bodie" Bodenhamer; parents, George and Nona Sellers; brother, J.C. Sellers; sister-in-law, Emma Schinaut; sister, Anita Joyce "Boots" Sellers; daughter, Susan Bodenhamer Ybarra.

She is survived by her sons, David (Patti) Bodenhamer of Gulf Shores, Alabama, George (Renee) Bodenhamer of Gulf Shores, Alabama; daughter, Cindy (Jeff) Eicher of Foley, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Carmen (Chris) Hermecz of Foley, Alabama, Kristen (Brian) Williams of Mobile, Alabama, Josh (Lauren) Bodenhamer of Gulf Shores, Alabama, Cory (Rick) Morgan of Mobile, Alabama, Jordan (Bruce) Barnard of Gulf Shores, Alabama, Jessica (Nick) Roberts of Foley, Alabama, Ian Eicher of Nashville, Tennessee; 17 great-grandchildren; two nephews; one great-nephew; one great-niece; one great-great-niece; and coutless extended family members from her children's and grandchildren's friends, all of which lovingly call her Grandma.

Virginia graduated from Stuttgart High School in Stuttgart, Arkansas. She later moved to Foley in 1953 where she became a lifelong member of the Summerdale Church of Christ.

She was a homemaker, and then later went to work for Gulf Telephone Company, starting out as a switchboard operator and then later as the front office manager and retired after 29 1/2 years of service.

She was a notary public for many years and also an appointed Justice of the Peace for Baldwin County.

Along with her husband, O.L., she was one of the organizers of the start-up of the South Baldwin County Chapter of the Search and Rescue.

Not only was she known by many as Grandma, but she was affectionately known to many as Mrs. Judge, Mrs. Bodie, Ginny, and "Red." She loved playing the piano, sewing, crocheting, working her puzzle books, bowling, watching her children and grand and great-grandchildren participating in sports, dance, cheer and band.

She loved gathering with family and friends for any occasion or holiday, but mostly for Alabama football, NASCAR and the yearly Mardi Gras parades, where the family would spend the entire day together watching parades and holding an annual picnic.

The service will be held at the Summerdale Church of Christ, located at 1070 State Hwy. 59 S., Summerdale, Al 36580 on Wednesday, April 26, 2017.

Visitation with the family will be from noon until 2 p.m., and the funeral service will begin at 2 p.m.

Graveside will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Snook Academy in connection with the Summerdale Church of Christ.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Josh Bodenhamer, Ian Eicher, Rick Morgan, Chris Hermecz, Bruce Barnard; and nephew, Larry Sellers.

Honorary pallbearers, Austin Sellers, Jason Stiles, Sammy Tyson, Mike Morgan, Brad May and Allen Gauci.
